Under the direct supervision of the Director of Arts, Wellness & Engagement (AWE) Program, the Activity Coordinator will be responsible for the overall planning and execution of activity programming for older adults at senior or multipurpose centers. This position will provide such services for one center (BAR Center on the Beach in Venice) and for a social club (Café Europa, a program for survivors of the Holocaust.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Gerontology, or related field, or 3 years of experience working with older adults in a recreational setting
• knowledge of social and recreational community resources
• Strong verbal, written, organizational, and outreach skills
• Computer literate utilizing Microsoft Office programs: Word, Publisher, Access, and Quark.
• Must be able to work autonomously yet work as part of a team and maintain professional boundaries.
• Ability/experience working with or supervising older adults, groups, volunteers, and professional staff
• Outgoing, friendly, and sensitive to the needs of impaired older adults
• Culturally sensitive and able to work with a multicultural client/customer population; ability to work in a nonjudgmental manner and foster positive growth/outcomes
• Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
• Senior Center programming:
• Responsible for activity program development, implementation, and oversight, including exercise classes, recreational classes, clubs, trips, educational lectures, arts & entertainment, special events, and other innovative programming
• Monitor member engagement with activities, identifying needs and responding with engaging programming
• Provide oversight to instructors and process invoices for those who are contracted
• Prepare monthly statistical reports, tracking and monitoring activity data
• Monitor and update membership contacts
• Identify and support volunteers to assist with activities programming
• Monitor program budget in collaboration with supervisor
• Collaborate with communications department to create and distribute promotional materials
• Assist program director with community outreach in all areas where requested to enhance client engagement and to raise community awareness of older adult programming
• Café Europa programming:
• Plan and coordinate events for Café Europa (social program for survivors of the Holocaust)
• Participate in networking events, constituent meetings, and trainings related to target population
• Plan special events for holidays and celebrations including hiring vendors, coordinating with sites, organizing staff and volunteers, and planning entertainment and program activities
• Other related duties as assigned
